Mackenzie Capaci

Mackenzie currently serves as our YMF Fundraising Chair, where she helps raise money for events like our annual Popsicle Stick Bridge competition, YMF Scholarships, and other student/community service programs that help inspire and support the next generation of engineers.

She recently moved from Arizona, where she was born and raised. She earned her BSE and MSE for Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!). She worked at GHD for 4 years and was an active member of the Phoenix Branch YMF.

Upon moving to Seattle this past fall, she started a new job at Kennedy Jenks as a project engineer in the water group.  She is currently working on an Integrated Wastewater Master Plan for the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District, located just north of the Bay Area in California.

This past year has come with a multitude of changes for Mackenzie, aside from starting a new job and moving to the PNW, she also got married and joined the Seattle YMF board.

On her current project…

“This is a holistic condition assessment and capital improvement effort utilizing a risk-based approach to develop short and long term solutions for the District. Using KJ's risk model and reliability centered maintenance practices, resources are able to be identified to address the most risk-critical system assets and develop solutions that bring immediate value to the forefront of the master plan, helping the District to better manage their infrastructure and staffing needs.”

On Mentorship...

"Since first joining in college, ASCE has been like a family to me; while the year has been full of new challenges, it has come with great opportunities and wonderful friendships that wouldn't have been possible without the YMF."
