Kady Dye

Kady is from northern San Diego county, and she moved to Seattle 4 years ago. She obtained her Bachelors and Masters degree in Structural Engineering from University of California San Diego (UCSD).

Kady is currently working at HDR as a bridge engineer. She analyzes existing bridges for community improvement projects, designs fish-passable structures, and provides construction support.

Her involvement with ASCE began at UCSD's student chapter. Upon moving to Seattle, Kady joined the ASCE Seattle YMF, and has volunteered for numerous events. She has volunteered for the Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition, Habitat for Humanity Day of Service, Abundance of Hope neighborhood cleanup, FareStart kitchen meal prep, and the Pacific Science Center STEM Fair, just to name a few!

If Kady wasn't a civil engineer, she would either be a biologist or a zoologist. Being a zoologist is an ideal career path considering she has 3 pets! She has a guinea pig named Bullwinkle, a golden retriever pup named Zuko, and an "old man" Chihuahua named Yoshi.

On Civil Engineering...

"What excites me about civil engineering is that our jobs are here to help communities in many different ways. Bridge engineering in particular is so essential in maintaining and creating ways to get people and animals where they need to go."

On her favorite work tasks...

"I enjoy the orderliness that spreadsheets bring to work and even my personal life! I enjoy laying out bridges to make them work with the site constraints and I like bringing the bridge to a reality when we perform engineering services during construction."
