Heather Carreon

Heather is originally from Fresno CA, and she attended California State University Fresno. She is currently an engineer at Parsons working in change management, utility design, and roadway design.

Her projects include intersection modifications near SR-9 & SR-204, a new link station between Angle Lake to Federal Way, and the first station in Fresno for the California High Speed Rail (CAHSR). She has been working on CAHSR for about five years where she works closely with the owner and construction managers. She is currently on a week long site visit in Fresno for the CAHSR project!

Heather has been a part of ASCE ever since she moved to Seattle three years ago. She is currently involved in the Mentorship Program, regularly attends the Westside Happy Hours, and most recently volunteered at the 25th Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition.

Outside of work and ASCE, you can find her remodeling her house with her husband (John who is also a civil engineer!), or on a hike with her 2 dogs, Jack and Calli.

On civil engineering...

"I like to see the projects that I work on actually be built. To say 'I worked on that' really make me proud and excited. I am looking forward to see what kind of person this career will mold me into."

If she wasn't a civil engineer...

"Definitely a teacher. I would tutor kids when I was in high school in math and in college I worked for a nonprofit company that provided tutors in English to lower income families. For a lot of the kids, English was their second language and English was the stepping stone to increasing their grades in all subjects."
